Distributed Learning at UCF includes instructional delivery technologies such as video tape, interactive television and web-based instruction that provide services to nontraditional, distant, and campus-based students. UCF has developed a significant number of totally web-based degree, degree-completion, and certificate programs. Distributed Learning at UCF also encompasses the use of computer resources to extend and enhance traditional classroom instruction. Hundreds of courses are provided each year that have web components, many that substitute online activity for classroom time and thereby reduce classroom scheduling demands and facility use at our growing University. Distributed learning courses maintain a high quality learning environment for the nontraditional student. The course materials and methods are developed by UCF faculty and designed specifically to meet the unique needs of a distance learner.
Interdisciplinary Studies offers a university-wide, primarily Web-based program through distance learning. The degree can include fully web-based and partially web-based courses, interactive television courses, and other courses. Interdisciplinary Studies students can access university-wide education from an off-campus location and often work on their own time schedule during the week.
